Tribute to Boswald

Freddie Pua

(Speech delivered during the send off party for the retirees on January 21, 2003)

I joined the organization last 1984 and have been with many bosses. Knowing that no two persons are alike, I could say that I have worked with bosses who are either very hardworking, easy go lucky, hardly working, kulang sa pansin at kung ano-ano pang ugali.

I have seen Boswald from a distance and got the chance to work with him only last year until now. Little did I know that I would be the last BO III whom he would be working with in his last year of service with BSP. Actually, he should be retiring compulsory on August 5, 2007 but being practical as Boswald is, he opted to retire effective February 3, 2003.

What could I say then about this guy whom everybody describes as the one with the “schoolboy complexion”? It cannot be denied that no one would think that Boswald is already in his 60s. We’ve worked as a team only for one year but the learning I gained is unquantifiable. I could say he was a model, mentor and friend rolled into one. Model, because of his unquestioned integrity worthy of emulation; mentor, because he unselfishly shared his experiences and insights to me to be an effective supervisor and better person. For whatever shortcomings that I have, he patiently taught me of what should be done on different situations. As a friend, he can always be depended upon.

It is sad to note that as in a story, Boswald’s career has a beginning and an end. Today we are sending him off to end his stint with the BSP and open a new chapter in his life. I know with his reservoir of talent and experiences, he will still go places in his future endeavors.

Ang masasabi ko lang kay Boswald, sa tingin ko wala pa ring makakapalit sa trono mongschollboy complexion”. To you BOSWALD, Good luck, Good Health, God Bless and more power!
